See what is going on in our classroom....
Our school year has been going by so quicly, Our students have been working hard. with their reading, writing, and math. Our stories have been a mix of fictional stories and informational text. All students need to be at a DRA reading level of 28 or higher by the end of the school year. Please ask your child what level they are at. Your help at home is greatly appreciated.
It is important to be reading 15 - 20 minutes nightly to increase comprehension and fluency. Ask your child questions about what they read and have them pick out who the characters are and where does the story take place. In addition, have students make predictions about the characters and events.
We are currently studying geometry and learning about geometric shapes, angles, and vertices. We have also practiced halves, thirds, and fourths with equal and unequal portions.
Writng skills are important and necessary for communication. Students are expected to write in complete sentences, with capitals and periods, about chosen topics.
We are very excited to have Ms. Stewart, these last 8 weeks, as our ASU teacher candidate. We just received more exciting news that Ms.Stewart will be staying with us for the spring semester as she does her student teaching, working towards her education degree.
